Shawnee Trail’s youth group includes 6th graders through high school seniors. The goal of the Shawnee Trail Youth Group is to help students build a relationship with God, strengthen their relationship with one another and the church, and serve the community. We know students’ faith grows and sticks when exposed to Christian adults living faithful lives, so the youth group focuses on improving faith relationships with parents and intergenerational members of our church. Hello parents! I hope your Monday is off to a great start. Here are some upcoming youth events to know about:
1.There is no high school devo tonight! We’ll be back next week.
2.We have a good stretch of Wednesday night youth groups upcoming. All these events will happen at the normal time (6:30-8). This Wednesday, Dominic Fuentes will be sharing a lesson he prepared at Kerusso preaching camp last summer. The following Wednesday (30th) will be jersey night! Students are encouraged to wear some kind of sports jersey, and we’ll take a big picture of everyone at the end. The Wednesday after that (October 7th), the OWLS group (Older Wiser Loving Seniors) is coming to youth group for a pizza and game night together.
There is no sign-up for any of these Wednesdays, and you don’t even have to remember anything special! But we’re looking forward to a great few weeks of Wednesday Night youth group together.
3.Aggies For Christ will be bringing a group of college students to Shawnee Trail October 9-11. During the weekend, there are two big youth group events:
-Saturday morning (October 10th) at 9am is our Church work day. Anyone who can help is invited to come join our group as we take care of chores for members and neighbors in need!
-Saturday evening (October 10th) from 6-8:30 is MEGA youth group night at the church building led by the Aggies! Make plans to be there and bring a friend. We’ll have dinner, games, worship, and prayer.
4.Our Healthy Sexuality teaching series will return this October, beginning with a weekend of teachings from Steve Holladay. Steve is the founder of Ultimate Escape and brings decades of counseling and parenting experience to us. He spoke at Shawnee Trail 4 years ago and 11 years ago. He’s been a great resource to our families, and we are excited for him to be back again!

Steve will speak 3x at Shawnee Trail (6:30pm October 3rd, during Bible class in the auditorium October 4th, 1:15 pm October 4th). Make plans to be there to grow in your ways to speak with your students about sexuality. We’ll pause the teaching on October 11th for AFC weekend, but we will complete the series with 2 more teaching sessions on Sundays in October: 18th and 25th. All of these Sunday sessions are open to both teens and adults in our church!
This is an important topic to address with our teens, and we want to do whatever we can to equip you for these conversations. If you would rather not have your student in the room during these conversations, I will send out the list of other Bible classes for the month of October.

Wednesday Night Youth Group
Every Wednesday, we have a night of worship for students in the HUB (building behind our church auditorium). This worship time is for students in grades 6th-12th. It’s the PERFECT time for visitors to check out our youth group and see what it’s all about. We average between 60 and 80 students each week, 12-15 of whom are visitors to our church. Wednesday Night Worship is the main youth group event every week!
The doors open at 6:30 for students to hang out on the couches, play basketball on the court, throw the football on the turf field, or pass the volleyball around with friends. At 7 pm, we come inside and have worship until 8. After 8, our worship time is over, but students love to hang out with friends for a little bit longer.

Taste and See – Girls Devo!
Our youth group girls have gotten together to dream up a brand new devo time on Wednesday nights for all girls 6th-12th grade, led by our students and women from Shawnee Trail. “Taste and See” will meet in the HUB from 5:45-6:30 every second Wednesday of the month! The next meeting is on October 14th.
School Year Activities
We have many activities happening week-to-week in the area, reach out to Ben Hansen if you want info or to get involved (ben@shawneetrail.org or 601-278-0463). And, of course, the summers are always full of activities in the Frisco/Dallas area, across the country, and even overseas.
Monday Night High School Devo SCHEDULE/LOCATION:
Every Monday night, the high school meets at a family’s home to dive deep into Scripture from 6:15-7:30. We study as deep as the Spirit will lead us! This is a critical time for our 9th-12th graders to take faith seriously and take leaps in wisdom!
Visitors and friends are more than welcome to come! Everyone needs to bring a Bible and you WILL be called out if you’re texting/snapping during these studies. Dig deep with us or stay home, please. If you’d like more information, reach out to Ben (ben@shanweetrail.org or 601-278-0463).

Youth Group Volunteer Information
Creating intergenerational relationships is an ESSENTIAL part of growing faith and finding an identity in the church, not just building relationships within the youth group and having a good time. We want our youth to develop friendships with church members of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you want to host some teens and teach them an old game, make a pie together, or cheer them on at their game or performance, there are many opportunities to be a mentor for a student who needs your presence in their lives. We know students’ faith grows and sticks when they are exposed to Christian adults living faithful lives, so the youth group focuses on improving faith relationships with parents and intergenerational members of our church.
