Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples

REFLECT

My grandfather devoted his life to ministry. He loved to tell others about the transforming power of Christ and God’s promises to us. After he passed away, a woman who had heard him preach years before shared with our family a handout that my grandfather had given her. His explanation (from Joy for the Journey by R.W. Lawson) of God’s promises to us in the 23rd Psalm gives me so much peace. I hope they will do the same for you.

The Lord is my Shepherd  (That’s Relationship!)
I shall not want  (That’s Supply!)
He makes me lie down in green pastures  (That’s Rest!)
He leads me beside the still waters  (That’s Refreshment!)
He restores my soul  (That’s Healing!)
He leads me in the paths of righteousness  (That’s Guidance!)
For His name’s sake  (That’s Purpose!)
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death  (That’s Testing!)
I will fear no evil  (That’s Protection!)
For You are with me  (That’s Faithfulness!)
Your rod and Your staff they comfort me  (That’s Discipline!)
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies  (That’s Hope!)
You anoint my head with oil  (That’s Consecration!)
My cup runs over  (That’s Abundance!)
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life  (That’s Blessing!)
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord  (That’s Security!)
Forever  (That’s Eternity!)

PRAY

Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your faithfulness. In both trials and triumphs, You walk beside me. I pray that You will help me keep Your promises on my mind and in my heart at all times. Forgive me when in my weakness, I fail. Thank you for Jesus and for the grace You have freely given us. Help me to be a light to those around me so that they too may receive Your grace. Amen.
