“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:1-4
We’ve got to look out for each other. In a church, a family, we need to put others first. Everything in our society tells us to look out for ourselves, but as citizens in God’s kingdom that dynamic has to change. God has already taken care of us so we can help others. “More Together” encompasses the idea of being on this mission together. As we engage the vision of Shawnee Trail to develop a culture of discipleship, plant churches, and enlarge the capacity of the facility we meet in, let us remember to consider the needs of others above our own.
O God, please help us get over our selfishness. It has become normal and acceptable, but we know You have a better standard for us. Thank You so much for sending Jesus to show the ultimate act of unselfishness. It is in His name we pray. Amen.
